Some of you know that I love video games. A lot. Like…A LOT. Ever since my dad first introduced me to Zork when I was ten, I haven’t been able to shake the gaming habit, and even nowadays I am an avid gamer in my free time.
So it surprises me that this is the first year I’ve heard of Extra Life. Extra Life is a gaming event that draws in donations that go to local children’s hospitals. Gamers game and pledgers pledge and all proceeds go to charity. There’s much more to their story, so here’s a link if you’re interested in finding out more of the event’s origins.
I’ve been invited by Paeter Frandsen to join his Christian Geek Central team this year to raise money for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. I am also going to have my own company, The Crossover Alliance, team up with this special event, and anyone who donates will receive a digital edition of our first short story anthology and a special pack of Crossover-themed wallpapers for your computer.
I’m not doing anything too incredibly fancy in regards to the gaming event this year. I don’t have the equipment to stream, so I’ve set up a simple gaming marathon I’ll be participating in on Saturday, November 7th, from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. I’ll be playing everything from Skyrim to Skylanders (with my 4-year-old), to Half Life 2: Deathmatch.
Check out my campaign page for more info. Any donations are welcome and ALL proceeds will go to the hospital to help children who don’t have the means available to cover the costs of their medical expenses.
